Spieler Design is a full-service design firm that specializes in both hospitality and residential interior design. Our commitment is to create an environment that reflects a client’s wishes and desires while respecting budget and time constraints. Susan Spieler began her career with Richard Byars Interior Design as Susan Brown. Since 1989, she has conducted business as Susan Brown Spieler. Since her years with Richard Byars, Susan has successfully created her own firm and has worked on numerous projects throughout Santa Barbara and Northern California.

Spieler Design has been featured on HGTV's Interior Designer's Challenge episode and was selected as the winning design team for the project. Additionally, we have been published in Audio Video Interiors and Santa Barbara Seasons Magazine.  

We are capable of handling any size hotel design project, from new construction to a simple cosmetic remodel. Our experience includes multiple hotel projects in California, including The Orchid Inn at Santa Barbara and The Orchid Inn at San Simeon, both of which were purchased as investments, repositioned in the market and sold. We specialize in reimaging and repositioning hotels in the real estate market, with an emphasis on increasing occupancy and ADR.
 
The residential area of our firm offers services ranging from construction management and finish specification, as well as to fabrics and trims.  Our firm is perhaps best known for our sophisticated and often bold use of color, while maintaining the highest level of elegance in primarily high-end homes.  We work on projects of any size or scale, and have the ability and experience to work on projects outside of our office area by offering online services.
